Arrival was a film that I enjoyed for its intelligent, thought-provoking drama. I wanted to honor it by rendering a movie poster featuring an iconic scene in the style of graphic artist Luba Lukova.
The Process:
The first thing I had to do was to ask myself what elements from the film could be used to represent both the plot and the aesthetic. This included color studies as well as symbolic representations.
Once I had an idea of what I wanted to use, I created a mood board of inspiration. This included both existing movie posters for the film, as well as examples of artwork from Luba Lukova.
Armed with a solid idea, I created a movie poster that captured the emotional rollercoaster of both the characters and the viewer.
